David Langโ€™s TED Talk: My Underwater Robot

So awesome to see another maker on TED. Zero to Maker author David Lang explains the origins of the OpenROV project, which created an open-source DIY submersible, in essence a tethered underwater drone that you can build yourself from a kit. Lang and his collaborator Eric Stackpole built the OpenROV collaboratively with an online community of folks interested in the same things. After a New York Times article created a buzz, Eric and David Kickstarted a kit-making businessโ€“only to be faced with the realities of learning how to make a kit. Itโ€™s an excellent talk and David does a great job. If you want to learn more, be sure to check out MAKE: Volume 34 which features an OpenROV cover story.

Finally, if you havenโ€™t read Davidโ€™s recent post here on MAKE, Citizen Exploration, an Amateur Revolution, drop everything and go check it out.
