Alex Schlegel made this papier-mâché sculpture of a yard sprinkler and situated it in the mostly dry bed of the Salt River in Tempe, Arizona, where water (or the lack thereof) is a major lifestyle issue. Lots of people have lush lawns (and golf courses) thanks to the wonders of the different irrigation and policy agencies in the Phoenix area, but it doesn’t change the fact that its a desert! Alex’s site-specific graffiti is ten feet tall and visible from the street.
