I was an editor on the first 40 volumes of MAKE, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. In particular, covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made. When not fawning over perfect word choices, I can be found on the nearest mountain, looking for untouched powder fields and ideal alpine lakes.

Australian crafter Louise Elliott has adorable, cheery cloth animal and doll kits available on her site. Each Animal of the World is adorned with ethnic patterns from its country of origin. There’s Boris the Russian bear, Danilo Donkey from Portugal, Chandra Tiger from Bengal, and a whole zoo of others. Louise also offers begging-to-be-colored coloring book pages (the lovely Fanni Nanny Goat from Switzerland pictured above) with her enchanting illustrations for free download.
