I was an editor on the first 40 volumes of MAKE, and I love shining light on the incredible makers in our community. In particular, covering art is my passion — after all, art is the first thing most of us ever made. Our friend Kyle Wiens of iFixit made it out to the annual Burning Man arts festival this year, with the goal of checking out repair efforts on the playa. The harsh environment of Black Rock Desert becomes home to purportedly the most populated temporary city in the world for one week of every year. Repair is naturally integral to survival. Kyle shares his findings in a general post about repair on the playa and another more specifically about bike repair, bikes being the transport of choice for most attendees.
