We just got all the media uploaded from the “XD 5-minute Design Challenge” and boy does it look cool as a montage.

Adobe XD sponsored a design challenge at Maker Faire. Makers had 5 minutes to create a design in a custom Flash application, which was converted by Illustrator to line art, that was cut into a stencil by a laser cutter. Makers then used the stencil to airbrush their design onto a t-shirt. 170 t-shirts were created in 2 days (one shirt every 5.5 minutes for the entire Faire!).

Once it started, the action was non-stop! On Saturday, 95 shirts were created in 8.5 hours. On Sunday, 75 shirts were created in 7 hours (starting at exactly 10:00am and finishing at exactly 5:00pm). That’s effectively one shirt every 5.5 minutes for 15.5 solid hours!

Along the way we awarded 8 copies of the full Creative Suite 3 over the course of the faire. The first person we gave the prize to had actually been saving up to purchase a copy – so it was especially exciting for them and super-fun for us to get to give it to them.
