MAKE reader Scott recently made a modified version of the IR Pulse Sensor, combining the design by Sean Ragan with the โ€œsimple and sensitiveโ€ (but also โ€œslightly more complicatedโ€) circuit originally crafted by MarkusB from Letโ€™s Make Robots. He added a few other components along the way, notably the trimpot and status LED seen on the topside of the perfboard:

Ultimately this was done so Scott could tinker around with his recently acquired oscilloscope! You can read about his IR Pulse Sensor build and many more of Scottโ€™s wonderful electronics projects over on his blog, lungstruck.

Now imagine controlling a beetle with your pulse!
