Reverse Geocache Briefcase Unlocks in the Right Spot
Check out Flickr user Rumtopf’s fancy take on the reverse geocache box. For those who don’t know, a reverse geocache is a box that unlocks itself when the GPS sensor inside senses that it’s in a specific spot on the globe. Rumtopf used a snazzy doorbell button to wake an Arduino, which checks the GPS and displays the distance from that spot on an LCD. He also used a magnetic child safety lock as a backdoor to access the inside of the briefcase in case of malfunction.

Zero to Maker: Arduino and Beyond
Learning how to program Arduino was a must-do for my Zero to Maker process. For a beginner like me, this turns out to be an easier thing to say than to do. I wanted to learn it right and really understand what I was doing, which meant – and I’m really going to expose the Zero in me here – starting with basic electronics: soldering, circuit testing, and understanding fundamentals like Ohm’s Law.
Build Your Own Arduino Controlled Robot
Building robots is easy if you have the right parts. This Make: Project shows you how using readily available items from the Maker Shed. All you need is a 4WD platform, a motor shield, a PING))) sensor, and an Arduino Uno. Put everything together, load the code, and you’ll have a great robot platform to build from. Good job Nick!
Tune into the Past with Radio Arduino Classic Edition
Mycroft Milverton used an Arduino and a Wave Shield to create the Radio Arduino Classic Edition, a retrofitted vacuum tube radio that plays different classic radio tracks when it’s tuned. The device plays 60 tracks in normal mode, but also has an easter egg mode, which can play thousands of tracks. Be sure to check out Mycroft’s original Radio Arduino as well; it’s built in the shell of an Oscar Belle two band transistor radio from the 1960′s.
