HOW TO – Simple Microphone Preamplifier

HOW TO – Simple Microphone Preamplifier

MicampTomi writes – “This is a simple microphone preamplifier circuit which you can use between your microphone and stereo amplifier. This circuit amplifier microphone suitable for use with normal home stereo amplifier line/CD/aux/tape inputs. This microphone preamplifier can take both dynamic and electret microphone inputs (preamplifier provides power foe electret microphone elements). The idea of this circuit is to keep the design as simple as possible to be easy to build. That was my goal when I needed a simple external microphone preamplifier for my mixer. The performance of the circuit is nothing superior but can be used with many not so serious projects.” Link.

Instant clay animation

Instant clay animation

AnimaatiokoneCheck out this “Instant Claymation machine” on WMMNA“Animaatiokone (Animation Machine) is an installation that turns you into a master clay animator. It’s built of a potato peeling machine, a laptop PC and pinball machine buttons. First you sculpt clay actors. When you’re happy with your cast, you locate the characters inside the mini-studio (inside the Animaatiokone machine), move the actors and capture frames. An overhead display allows you to check the shooting, you can also delete or add frames on the touch of a button. When you’re finish, you can add a soundtrack.” [via] Link.

iRiver u10 – Plays Macromedia Flash…

Clip Image004I’m really hoping this iRiver does well; it’s the first tiny MP3 player that you lets make your own games, applications and utilities using Macromedia Flash, then load them up on the device to use. Back in June of 2005 we posted about this. If it works out, I think we’ll see Sony and even Apple consider user-created content like Flash games as a potential new feature – or at least sell little Flash games via Sony Connect or iTunes. Here are a couple of videos of the device in action – Link and Link.

Wireless Guitar hero PS2 controller mod…

Ghw-InTheDude06 writes “I finally completed my wireless guitar hero controller mod! With so much space available in the guitar, i knew it was possible. id just never got around to finally doing it. Long story short, i had to completely dismantle the guts of the guitar to do this. its not possible to do this mod without soldering or removing parts from the guitar hero board…. at least, not the way i dd it. Since i wasnt able to find a box that could turn any controller into a wireless controller locally, i figured id take a stab with these…” Link. The project is in our new MAKE forums. If you haven’t checked, hit’em and join–they’re on fire! (In a good way.)

CVS camera hack with USB cable…

CvsFlickr member Filmosity’s modded a CVS disposable video camera to include a built-in USB cable for easy transfer of video – “…Side view of the CVS One time use Camcorder, hacked with a USB Cable. The cable now has some velcro that keeps it flush to the side of the cam. Still a few more mods I’m going to make to the cam, including changing the logos that show up when you turn the cam on and off.” Link. More CVS camera hacking here.
