Crochet Art by Patricia Waller

Crochet Art by Patricia Waller

Patriciawaller
German Artist Patricia Waller uses wool and the technique of crochet to create works of art that are out of the norm in the crafts world. We love intricate detail of the artwork which helps to conveys such irony and humor in her pieces, such as “Accidents,” How to Kill Your First Love”, and “Don’t Kill Your Idols”. Thanks Olivia! Newsprint flip-flops

Newsprint flip-flops

20072.F5C1D37AThese would make a fun project to recreate, maybe I’ll use the cover of MAKE – “these sturdy foam-core flip-flops are built into a sheet of printed foam. the foam sheet, and the soles of the flip-flops, are printed with advertisements taken from chinese newspapers, which creates a fascinating grid of numbers and characters. available in two sizes, these versatile shoes are suitable for indoor, outdoor, or shower use. shoes have soft plastic thong portion designed to lie flat against the feet. the frame has a portion that pops out for hanging on a wall.” [via] Link.

HOW TO – “Photocasting” with Photocastr

HOW TO – “Photocasting” with Photocastr

IpodvHere’s a way to get Flickr photos on your iPod automatically – photocasting! – “I use flickr and when i got my iPod Video i felt that Photo Podcasting had been overlooked. After some googling and hunting on del.icio.us i couldn’t find any easy way to do this with iTunes, iPhoto or some flickr hacks. I gave it a rest until i discovered that Kalli, a fellow iPod owner and flickr nerd, was interested in getting photo podcasting going. We created a workflow in Automator that, combined with iCal, becomes a photo podcasting client.” Thanks Addi! Link.

Radio controlled digital camera plane

0004777604127 215X215I might need to make one of these radio controlled digital camera planes, otherwise it’s somewhat tempting to get one Wal-Mart, ug “Take fantastic digital pictures from an eagle’s-eye view with the amazing Estes XB 39 Eagleye Radio Control Digital Camera Plane. The giant Eagleye has a wingspan of 55 inches, is 34 inches in length and has twin ducted fan jet engines. Best of all, you can take up to 26 aerial photographs with a simple push of a button on the transmitter.” [via] Link.

Make a dodecahedral – 12 sided calendar

Make a dodecahedral – 12 sided calendar

DeskcalFun calendar project “A dodecahedron is literally a polyhedron with 12 faces, but usually a regular dodecahedron is meant: a Platonic solid composed of twelve pentagonal faces, with three meeting at each vertex. It has twenty vertices and thirty edges. Its dual polyhedron is the icosahedron. Download a dodecahedral calendar after your own specifiation. Choose PDF format if you can’t print PostScript files. Choose PostScript format if you want to modify the calendar. The PostScript file explains how to mark holidays and birthdays.” Thanks Star! Link.
