A friend of mine recently asked my advice. Apparently his 12-year-old nephew is turning out to be quite the geek. As my friend described his nephew’s love to take stuff apart and make something new with it, I could tell we had the beginnings of a fine young maker. Together with Intel, the MacArthur Foundation, and O’Reilly Media, Cognizant is a partner in the nonprofit Maker Education Initiative, which provides grants historically ranging from $15,000-$30,000 to community organizations running “hands-on, Maker-movement inspired programs in an after-school or summer camp setting, or within the school day when conditions allow.”
