Some PSP games check to see if the PSP has the latest firmware, since we don’t want to update to 2.0 and lose the ability to run games and applications we make, here’s a tool that does a tricksie on the PSP game- This is described as the First Firmware Trick for Games that need Firmware 1.52 to run on your PSP and Cant Run UPDATER 1.52 or 2.0. The System thinks it’s a PSP v1.52 ,v1.0 ,v2.0 even if its a v1.5 or 1.0. Link.
Adding an external antenna to the PSP…we are going to examine the possibilities of increasing the PSP’s wireless signal strength to make it more adaptable to situations where you might need a few extra dBs to get that quality connection. Link.
Another nice PSP HOW TO from AOTS – It’s surprisingly simple to play your favorite classic LucasArts titles on your PSP. We snagged a couple steps from the great hardware hacking forums, DCEmu, and combined them with a little of our own knowledge to give you this little tutorial. PBS’s site has a neat game where you listen to retro game sounds and try to guess which game they’re from. I got 15 out of 18, a couple of the games I never played back then or ROM now. This would be a fun category for Jeopardy. The site also has some other retro game trivia too. Link.
Some good news, hopefully in a few weeks we’ll be able to run our own apps on the new firmware – Some very interesting things going on in the PSP hacking world. It would seem that someone has gotten the DATA.PSP files from the various update EBOOT.PBP files decrypted. This is the next step in unlocking the secrets of the PSP’s firmware. How to flash/re-flash, and modifying firmware files to suit individual hacker’s needs, etc… Link.
