These “Sexed Robots” by artist Paul Granjon are autonomous wheeled platforms with anatomically correct male and female sex organs and are programmed to find each other through an “in heat” mode where they then attempt to mate. This “Three Meter Geodynamo” project conducted at the University of Maryland was built to study how planets generate magnetic fields. The rotating sphere attempts to generate a magnetic field from spinning liquid sodium metal.
