Arduino

As the preeminent tool for makers, Arduino is a versatile platform that covers almost every type of creative making. With its simple-to-use coding language and fun programming concepts, Arduino enables users to create modern electronics with ease. From beginner level projects like flashing LED lights to more advanced builds such as interactive robots, there are an endless number of possibilities when it comes to building projects with Arduino. Whether you are new or an experienced builder in search of fresh ideas, these posts will provide interesting Arduino tutorials and unique ideas that may spark your creativity and motivate you take on any type of maker project!

In the Maker Shed: Open Heart kit V2.0

The Open Heart kit V2.0 is a matrix of individually addressable LEDs that allow you to create customizable animations when connected to your favorite micro controller. Attach it temporarily to fabrics with headers that you simply push through, or sew it into a project with conductive fabric for a more permanent setup. It’s “Charlieplexed” so you need only 6 wires to control the 27 LEDs

How-To: Perfboard hackduino

Joe Saavedra writes: This tutorial will go through the steps involved in fabricating your own Arduino-compatible circuit using just ~$8 of parts (this includes the ATMega chip!). This is perfect for installing and embedding in permanent pieces , as you don’t need to waste a full $30 Arduino board in a project you will never […]

Vote for Arduino!

Vote for Arduino!

Vote for Arduino! Arduino has helped many people get in to electronics, it’s run by a great group and most of all – it’s completely open source hardware, they’re pioneers – it would be great to see OSHW in the Shanghai Expo (and on that note, check out the expo!)… The Italian government is making […]

3D LED Tic-tac-toe

The first entry in our Gadget Freak Design contest is in, and it’s a doozy: Matthew Katzenstein created this sweet 3×3 RGB LED matrix, controlled by an Arduino Diecimila, that plays a game of blue-vs-red 3-dimensional tic-tac-toe. The video, above, is lengthy and quite detailed. You can watch it work at 5:30 (it should automatically start there if you click above); the whole video can be seen here.

Arduino-driven hypnodisk

Arduino-driven hypnodisk

(From the MAKE Flickr pool) Kevin Osborn used an Arduino, an Adafruit motor shield, and an infrared proximity sensor from SparkFun to create a hypnodisk for kids to interact with. I did a presentation on makers for our elementary school’s Science Discovery Week. I have done a lot of projects but wanted to do some […]
