Google using Jabber – Google talk?
Looks like Google is going to be using Jabber- talk.google.com is talking Jabber. You can telnet over to talk.google.com 5222. The last line will be the standard response sent by a Jabber server prior to negotiating a login. I heard on IRC that some have logged in using their Google username and password. Link.
MAKE Flickr pool member wirehead writes “I’m bringing up the gen2 circuit board. This should be the sort of thing that a qualified electrical engineer would whip out in a matter of minutes. But, I’m a programmer who likes to mess around with technology, so things sometimes take a little longer than they ought to. Or I connect power to ground and ground to power. Nice little overview of the CVS hack from Alex Beam at the Globe – seems like they don’t mind the hacking…“It restored my faith in American ingenuity to see that electrical engineer/hardware tinkerer John Maushammer had taken the trouble to ”hack,” or modify, the new CVS disposable camcorder. After Maushammer’s intervention, described on the Make magazine website stage.makezine.com, the $30 disposable camera becomes . . . reusable! That’s what I call a bargain”…
