The Treadmill Bike by Bicycle Forrest is cracking me up. Yes, it’s a viral video to ever so subtly introduce you to their Bicycle CAD software, but that’s not going to stop me from writing about it. Besides the fact that there’s CAD software geared towards building bikes, which is cool by itself, I think it’s great that they had an itch and decided to build a treadmill/bike mashup to scratch it.
Yesterday was a thrill and change. We had a very productive day (and night) and were able to accomplish three tests on many of the machines. Today we’re doing more testing and at 3pm PDT will be hosting a Google+ Hangout on Air to share the weekend’s grand adventure and to join up with offsite 3D printing enthusiasts.

Autodesk recently released an update to their 123D Catch photogrammetry app that now runs on the iPhone. Similar in function to the previously iPad-only app, a user captures a series of photographs that get forwarded to an online service for processing into a 3D model.

I tend to do my fine-detail circuit work inside the house on my electronics workbench, and rougher work in my garage workshop. I have vises installed in both places, each chosen to suit the work: in the house I use a PanaVise Jr. Mini-Vise mounted on a tray base; in the garage it’s a heftier swivel vise bolted to my workbench. Now, PanaVise has turned things upside down by offering this new Vise Buddy Jr., which is a small, precision vise head that you can quickly clamp into your bigger bench vise.
