What I am showing you here is only one way that I print posters, so this should be a considered an introduction, but know that there are plenty of different methods out there that will work just as well. MAKE pal Jake has a good HOW TO – By default every movie encoded using Dr. DivX or the newer DivX Create Bundle displays a watermark during the first few seconds of playback. In theory this is great free advertising for DivX which introduces a bunch of new eyes to their encoding product. Who knows if it actually works. Occasionally that watermark gets in the way of things like subtitles but it’s generally harmless. If you’re annoyed by it, DivX offers a fairly simple method for making it go away. Link.
Looks like Google is going to be using Jabber- talk.google.com is talking Jabber. You can telnet over to talk.google.com 5222. The last line will be the standard response sent by a Jabber server prior to negotiating a login. I heard on IRC that some have logged in using their Google username and password. Link.
Over the next day and week you’ll hear about the new PSP 2.0 update from all the usual places, but don’t update- really. There are a couple new features, like a web browser, image transfer/wallpaper, some other video and network tweaks- but it’s a yawn. You’ll lose all the amazing homebrew playing capability, emulators and cool applications the PSP makers are cranking out- so don’t do it- it’s just not worth it, it removes fun (until the version 2.0 firmware can play homebrew, then it’s ok to update).
