Wooden desk lamp

Wooden desk lamp

MAKE subscriber Jeff from Kitchener, ON, wrote in with this Instructable for a cool ‘woodpunk’ desk lamp with a LED light. I’m very proud of my latest creation, the Woodpunk LED Desk Lamp. It’s made mostly of 1/4″ and 1/2″ plywood, hand-cut on a scroll saw. The cord, socket and springs were recycled from thrift […]

Shotgun shell candles

Shotgun shell candles

Here’s a great starting project for the rugged, outdoorsy, he-man type who is secretly candle-curious. The fact that it’s made with shotgun shells makes up for any girliness that might otherwise accrue to candle-crafting. Even if you use strawberry-scented wax. Nice DIY bedframe design

Nice DIY bedframe design

With the exception of my couch, every piece of furniture in my home is something I built, or heavily modified, myself. This is both a source of personal pride and a bit of a pain, because if I want more furniture for whatever purpose, I’m sort of obliged, at this point, to build instead of buying. My mattress has been on the floor for years, but lately I’ve been thinking it’s time to commit to building a bedframe. Which is why this solid, minimalist, simple-tools design by Instructables user wholman caught my attention. It’s an entry in their ongoing Woodworking Contest.
