I just finished reading this lovely post about Warm Woolies over at Craft Nectar. Called “knitting small things with great love,” Weeks talks about how she wanted to contribute something warm and concrete to orphanages like the one she adopted her daughter from. Warm Woolies sends toasty items knit by volunteers to children in Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia, as well as tribal reservations here in the US. I’m continually impressed with how generous the crafting community is, especially considering how much time these projects can take! Last week we made some super simple and comfy yoga pants from a castoff T-shirt. This week we’re utilizing the same materials because, well, we all know the abundance of T-shirts in this world is somewhat overwhelming, and while we may not be able to wear all the ones we have, we don’t necessarily just want to get rid of them. This week’s project is the minimalist baby/kid pants using an old favorite stripey tee of mine.
